Okay, here goes...I set up our blog a couple of weeks ago but just haven't gotten up the courage to write this first post yet. I'm really not sure how good I will be at this whole blogging thing, but I finally decided to give it a try. Here are a few reasons why I wanted to start this blog in the first place:
1. I hear quite often from family and friends that "I wish I could see the kids more." Since packing up the car to travel somewhere with two kids is not always an easy feat, I'm hoping this blog may help those family members and friends to feel a little more connected and have a better sense of what's going on in the life of Collin and Katelyn.
2. Before I became a mom, I thought I would remember every detail of having kids. Enter pregnancy brain. Which by the way does NOT go away after you give birth to that precious little child. I love to scrapbook. While this will still remain a hobby, I'm afraid by the time I get around to finishing Collin and Katelyn's baby scrapbooks, they will be in high school, and I will have already forgotten all of the sweet little details that I want to remember forever. So, I'm hoping this blog will be my way of documenting and remembering all of the big (and not so big) moments of their early years. And considering I'm on page 4 of my three year old's baby scrapbook, I know all too well that these early years go by too fast.
3. I want to hold myself accountable. Many of you know that I have recently decided to become a (mostly) stay at home mom. While this was a hard decision, I know that these first few years are so important (and again will go by so quickly). I just want to be able to share this time with them. I know I will be putting Collin on that big yellow bus before I can blink. Knowing this, I want to make sure that spending quality time with them is what occupies my time and comes first on my ever present "to do list". Not dishes, cleaning, laundry, etc. Those things can wait (until nap or bedtime at least). Okay, while this may not happen all of the time, I want to be able to say it happens often. So, I plan to share the special times that I spend with them while there are dishes in the sink, clothes in the washing machine, and dust on the furniture.
And since most blogs I read have pictures posted in them (and because I think the two little ones living at my house are pretty darn cute), here are a few recent ones:
Collin had a great time at a birthday party at Jump to It. It was his first time at one of those huge inflatable jump places...
Katelyn all dressed up and ready to go to cousin Campbell's birthday party...
