One on One

Since we're gearing up for a pretty fun filled weekend over here, I figured I should catch you up on some of the fun we had last weekend/this week.  I was glad to get some one on one time with each of the kids this weekend.

On Friday, Katelyn had her first "playdate" sans brother.  While Mag and I were a bit sad and missing our boys, we were also excited to be able to have some of that one on one time with the girls like we used to have with our little guys!

We headed back to the Suwanee Fountains (and the Brown Bag Deli).

So glad Katie, Ethan and Emily could be there too!  We needed a boy in the mix.  I haven't gotten a picture of Kate and Ethan in a while and this is definitely one of my favorites!
On Saturday, I took Collin to one of his "girlfriends" birthday parties while Kate and Daddy went out for pizza.  It was an awesome party complete with horses, hay rides, a bounce house, and cute photo ops!

Mimi, Auntie Joy and Uncle Virgil came to visit on Sunday.  The girls and Collin went shopping while the big guys played golf.  Do you know how hard it is to take a clear picture on a carousel?  This was the best one (taken after the ride actually stopped)!

And last but not least, Collin had his first day of karate on Tuesday!  We got a great deal on the first 5 sessions so we figured we would give it a try to see if he likes it.  He did pretty good but needs to work on his focus and answering questions appropriately.  He keeps asking when his next session is, so I guess that's a good sign!

Gwinnett Braves

Tonight we were in denial that forgot that Collin has his second day of Kindergarten in the morning.  We decided to take the kids to their first baseball game!  We headed out to Coolray Field to watch the Gwinnett Braves play.  We got great seats behind home plate (in the shade!) and the kids sat there for the entire game!

They enjoyed watching the mascot, playing with the frisbees and cowbells they were given and dancing to the music.  Collin enjoyed the game too when he was paying attention.  And they shared their first frozen lemonade.

We will definitely be back!  No need to drive all the way to Atlanta at their age...they didn't know the difference!

One of the best parts was at the end of the game when the kids got to run around the bases.  Blogger wouldn't upload it, so you'll have to see it here

Kindergarten!

The day before...

Open House 8/9/2012

Excited about tomorrow!
Clothes out and ready to go.

Love this idea from pinterest...ask your child their favorites each year and see how they change.

The big day...he chose waffles for breakfast.

Here we go!

Katelyn was not thrilled to be thrown into the car so early.  I think she was a little confused.
Learning where to put all of his stuff when he gets in the classroom.
Sitting at his seat...right before he got teary eyed.
I have to admit that today was a super hard day for me.  Much harder than I expected.  I'm so thankful I was able to hold it together for him since he was sad when it was time for us to leave.  I made it about 30 seconds down the road before I lost it.  It's early, the school is big, and it's a huge life change for us.  I kept telling myself that those extra two hours + 1 day weren't that big of a deal.  Turns out they are.  Preschool was 16 hours a week and elementary school is 30+! When Katelyn and I were home alone at 8:10 am I felt a little lost.  But I got it together an hour or so later.  I was making my bed and when I finished, Katelyn looked at me so sweetly and said "You finished?  Let's go shopping!"  Ummm, okay!  Chick fil a for breakfast and new tennis shoes still didn't keep me from checking my watch and being one of the first in the carpool line though!  But he ended up having a great day and he has 2 friends in his class with him!  I asked him to tell me one good thing and one bad thing about his day.  He told me the whole thing was good so I guess that's a good sign.  He was really tired this afternoon but that's to be expected.  Just glad we have the weekend to rest up from today and start a new week on Monday!

Absolutely still cannot believe that this precious little thing is in Kindergarten...

Love you little buddy!
